Just wanted to say hi and see what everyone's thoughts on what is football index is doing right now with the matching engine. How is everyone feeling about it.

Welcome! Obviously I like the bidding to buy especially whilst there's no extra commission, but it's wiped out market selling pretty much. I think it was pretty much the worst time to implement it. Its the end of season, covid has hit Bank accounts and there's lots of doubts around the platform. We are not seeing any rushes to buy regardless of performance or goals or even now transfer rumours. I've had about 50 players, all very decent FI holds up fir sale for about 2 weeks with no bites, normally these players would be gone by now. I saw a post on twitter last night about how good some of the older players are at PB and that worried me further. Anyone buying or holding old players now has a very high risk asset. One big injury, China or USA and then realistically are you ever going to get enough bids made on that player that you can sell? We could see a 4£ players go straight to practically £0. Really hope FI do something. It sounds like they need a lot of big market makers to get involved. Maybe they over estimated liquidity.

Completely agree with all that. I think fi have made a really bad move with the matching engine I thought they would implement it with a deposit bonus and it would all be ok for another couple of months but they are clearly thinking of doing something else.

I'm genuinely shocked at how strangely they do things as a company because if I was them I'm sure I could run it much better. If they had Comms with everyone it would work soo much better. It's like they are soo arrogant and it's really costing them big time.

Any ideas how they could rectify the situation? I can't think of any to be honest that isn't just a plaster that will soon fall off.

It would be a nice touch but even if they did that I think the market would struggle after all the instant selling finishes

My thoughts are unless they do something to make people trade from top to bottom it will slowly die a death. I used to log in a few times a day to check my port/forum but now it’s more like every couple of days. To be honest it bores me now, I would be as well putting my money in the stock market as that would give me just as much fun now 😂

I think they will increase dividends but I'm not sure how that can drum up trading after a small period of time.

    Hi Minime and welcome!

For me the ME would have worked well had they left the IS in, but by removing that they have both trapped money in whilst leaving a lot of customers unhappy.

I think when the sell part comes in (if it does, anyone else having doubts??), all trading will be done below the market price. Great for new guys but not so good for anyone holding shares already.

How do you feel about it?

Thanks mrWhite just for transparency I'm tom7471 from the fi forum. Just had enough of the people who don't want anything bad being said on there so I have stopped posting and want to have some discussions on here. I do think they will run through the stages of the matching engine and the sell part will come pretty soon but I just don't see how it will make that much difference to be honest. I think a lot of people don't like the idea that the platform has changed dramatically without instant sell and as traders we need to adapt accordingly. For me if this matching engine had come in when I started 15 months ago I wouldn't have had the strategy that worked so well for me. I would be doing what I'm doing now. Putting in lowball bid on players I think I can quickly flip for small profits. So new customers with the idea of backing decent players and watching them rocket is gone but I don't think a lot of people realise this.

I think this is it exactly.

It now makes no sense to hold big ports. Before, we could do so and know prices will rise and IS was a backstop. That is no longer the case.

So take Bruno for instance @ £10 MS price. Why hold 300 of him and risk £3000 when you can continually buy for £9.80 and sell at £9.90, making profit with each trade but holding no risk?

Then multiply that across the platform with all players,

Those holding big ports take all of the risk and will get relatively small reward. Players like EJ, the backbone of the index, are in huge financial trouble on here (comparatively) and now have a lot of money with no way of shifting.

The age thing also worries me, and not a day goes by when I am not arguing with someone or other who claims things like 'Messi is a must hold'. People just don't get it.

People massively over-bet on FI due to it being an 'investment', myself included. That is now gone and people won't be willing to put such huge funds in.

My plan now is to sell up, take my own money out + £1000 and play with whatever profit I have left, trading below market price. So far I have managed to get out of players slightly higher than I wanted, but now I am finding it harder and harder and it looks like I will have to pray for a bonus/div increase to have any hope of salvaging a profit.
