I've started with just the bonus cards and the reward coupons and i'm trying to build a portfolio with no extra cash deposit. I managed to win £2.16 in a tournament and started buying players with decent spreads, who are starters in upcoming tournaments. 7 days in I've amassed a whopping £4.30. I'm impatient and want to see this grow quicker. I was intending to buy a £6.99 pack, resell, repeat. Is this a worthwhile approach or could anyone suggest a better strategy?
My FS port is pretty stagnant, which is fine. Picking up regular small wins in the free rolls. Waiting til i feel i have a really strong team to enter the big comps- sniping my chances rather than entering by habit. A lot of energy spent on managing FI port at the moment though. Long term i feel im heading FS unless FI sort it out once and for all. FS is more fun on match days i find.
Week 19 update - About time for my current progress. Off season was a struggle to flip players. Players prices falling, very hard to guage and required a lot of patience. Two big drops had £7 wiped off Mount and MacTominay. Even so managed to keep value moving. Since the season started prices have increased and i now am able to rejoin the beginners tournaments. I've entered 4 in the last couple of weeks and am in tonights, fingers crossed. Out of those four I picked up £5.60. I now have got 22 cards, most of which are decent tournament cards at beginner level. Looking positive.
Anyway my current figures have grown to:-
BUY PRICE - £61.44
SELL PRICE - £56.87
Cheers for update. I've noticed my buy and sell orders have slowed down last 2 weeks. Think there will be more action when we start to know the main lineups for next season. Chelsea for example is difficult to predict. Even Arsenal with lots of ins and outs rumoured.
Week 9 Diary update - The last few weeks have been mixed. A surge in prices before the close of season, then new players coming in and a drop in prices across the board, which I guess is a mixture of no games, new players coming in. So uncertainty of players like McTominay only £2.13 now!!, Mount etc getting game time, players retiring, transfered out. Virtual matches and roulette doesn't seem to be holding prices steady. Anyway my value surged to around £39, but has steadily dropped, mainly because of Mount dropping £5. Flipping has certainly become more difficult recently.
So currently still gaining even with the dip.
BUY PRICE - £34.39
SELL PRICE - £31.95
I wish the graphs showed longer like over the season... Think both fi and fs should have proper historic graphs since players were on platform
Week 6 Diary Update - Bonus cards now finished. Bought my first std pack with a 10% coupon. Wished I hadn't bothered. Got £3.25 worth of players and £2.50 coupon. Current standing is now:-
Buy Price - £30.38
Sell Price - £27.94
Thoughts on graphs on cards?
I think it makes people more conscious about prices and reluctant to sell.
Got a free common GK reward - Kepa £1.13 and a free common player - Vardy £5.74. Happy with that. Balance now increased to £29.74
Week 5 update. After a poor start to the week things have improved. I won 90p in a tournament yesterday, however my bonus cards finish on the 18th, so that's me out of them for a while. I'm looking at getting my free common reward card before I lose them (hopefully get a bit of luck median price is around £2.55). Looking at Michael Keane as my cheapest buy option with low spread. My biggest flip was Ashley Westwood 63p.
My current figures are.
Buy Price - £19.98
Sell Price - £18.58
Week 4 update - up until yesterday things were going well, before prices tanked. Had boughg Luke Shaw for £7, now £4.87. Buy price - £11.76 Sell price - £9.92. Ride the storm time.
Good question. I was thinking of looking for the best 1 and 2 star players ready for the beginners etc... Still quite a few games to affect ppg though. But anyone who is injured and won't play could be banked ready.
Doing well! Il ask Hasselbanker for an update on his £0 challenge. But I think he's way under this so far.
Week 3 update - I now have 6 cards. 2 I am keeping Hoever, and Tanganga. My balance is currently between, Buy Price £12.14; Sell Price £10.99. Flip of the week 42p gain on Pukki. I did have an additional Cedric at £1.06 which I lost to Adam Smith - Bournemouth in my first 1/2 star battle, lost on corners. His stats are quite useful for a 50p player. I also had a tournament placing in a beginners comp picking up £1.33 for a 10th place. Overall not a bad week.
I saw the players dip after the games and bought quite a few. As a newbie this season I think it might be frustration around team lineups being so unpredictable. Wonder if a few sold up and will wait to buy for the summer virtual which we're much easier. Some might already be thinking of buying packs for the new players coming (transfers and europa and CL players) otherwise I kinfd of hope it is a weekly cycle like FI used to have where lots of traders move their pot about rather than hold... It opens regular cap app opportunities
Week 2 update - The return of real football. My balance carried forward was £4.30. I was flipping players like Fabinho, Winks, D Luiz, kouyate and picking up regular 15p increases, quite quickly. Then it changed as the football started, prices dropped steeply. Does that normally happen on FS? On Wed I bought Aurier for £3.67 and Kouyate for £1.25 who I'd sold earlier in the day for £1.49. I am still stuck with these players. Aurier's best price now is £3.15, Kouyate £1.18. Do I take the loss or wait? Will their prices increase for the next round of games like FI? Tournament wise no success this week, not even close. I've also got Matip who is in the sale queue for 57p.
If I sold at the best price my balance would increase to £4.95. My sell price has my balance at £6.00. So I am currently in a stick or twist situation.
I'd do the cheap tournaments. Hasselbanker is doing the same. Then reassess when the bonus players go. Dronny is right about the packs they are a big gamble right now, use them whenever the market soars though. This is an interesting challenge. Il ask Hasselbanker how he's getting on, he started about 10 days ago on same plan.
